Career

Jay Magee is a marketing and corporate communication professional with 14 years of experience in corporate and nonprofit settings.

As a healthcare marketing manager at Community Hospice of Northeast Florida in Jacksonville, Jay promotes the nonprofit organization’s end-of-life care services to the professional healthcare provider community by developing and implementing marketing plans, educational tools and programming, and social media strategy. He also currently maintains his own PR and web design consultancy, Creative Types.

Prior to joining Community Hospice, Jay promoted enterprise software and professional services as a field marketing manager for Computer Associates International. He began his professional career in 1997 at Jacksonville-based IT consulting firm Computer Management Sciences, where he coordinated investor relations and employee communications activities.

Before moving to Jacksonville, Jay worked for three years as a writer, editor and graphic designer at the University of Florida’s in-house publications division, News & Public Affairs.

Jay is the immediate past president of the North Florida Chapter of the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA). He also is an active volunteer and board member with PRSA North Florida and the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. His previous volunteer endeavors include work with the Jacksonville Jaycees, Cowford Professional Network, Super Bowl XXXIX Host Committee, St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, WJCT Radio Reading Service, and the Gator Club of Jacksonville, for which he served as president in 2002-2003.

Jay earned a Bachelor of Science in Public Relations, Magna Cum Laude, from the University of Florida. A native of Orlando, he lives in Jacksonville’s Mandarin neighborhood.
